What Is The Difference Between an N95 and a P2 Respirator?

July 13, 2021

The N95 respirators and P2 respirators are essentially the same type of half-face particulate respirator and have the same purpose.

These respiratory protection devices are designed to protect the wearer from air pollutants. The mask forms a seal over the mouth and nose to achieve effective filtration of particles in the air. The mask must be properly fitted and adjusted to your face to provide the expected protection.

In the United States, the term N95 is used. These respirators are classified by NIOSH. In Australia, the Australian/New Zealand standard Respiratory Protection Devices describes three types of particulate filters, Class P1, P2, and P3. The P2 respirator is equivalent to N95, but the test requirements are slightly different.

The selection, use and maintenance of respiratory protective equipment require suitability testing of respirators.

The N95 particulate respirator is a safety device that covers the nose and mouth, helping to prevent the wearer from inhaling certain harmful substances. N95 masks can prevent you from inhaling small particles in the air, such as dust and mold.

Approved by NIOSH N95, at least 95% filtration efficiency, against aerosols free of oil, please rest assured.

Our N95 masks can be used for polishing, splitting, sanding, dust removal, casting, bagging, casting, stone mining, agriculture, lighting, underground cement, construction sites, cement slurry and other places.

Compared with simple cloth masks or surgical masks, N95 respirators have two main advantages. First of all, the N95 mask is more than 95% efficient in filtering 0.3 μm particles. These particles are even smaller than the droplets produced when talking, coughing or sneezing, and can effectively filter out germs and bacteria. N95 fit provides advantages over loose surgical masks by eliminating leakage around the mask. N95 masks usually fit better around the face and neck, ensuring that droplets and particles do not leak around the mask.

The N95 respirator is a respiratory protection device designed to achieve a very tight facial fit and very effective filtration of particulate matter in the air. Please note that the edge of the respirator is to form a seal around the nose and mouth. Surgical N95 respirators are commonly used in health care and are a subset of N95 filtering face mask respirators (FFRs), commonly referred to as N95s.

What is a surgical mask?

A surgical mask is a loose, disposable device that forms a physical barrier between the nose and mouth.

These masks are designed to protect others, not the wearer, from the wearer's saliva and respiratory secretions.

Provides some protection for the wearer from the large droplets in the air.

Surgical masks are not capable of being fit-tested because there is no seal around the face, just a loose fitting.
